Menu and Grocery Planning

Raise your hand if you’ve gone to the grocery store hungry? Keep your hand up if you’ve come home from the grocery store, and said: “that wasn’t on my list!” Much worse is when you say, “oh $*!T, I forgot XYZ!”  I think we’ve all been in one of these situations.  While fun it may seem at the time; it isn’t always fun at checkout.  Or the next day when your recipe is put off because you forgot the main ingredient.  With recipe development, we don’t always know what we need until we need it, so we keep a pretty stocked pantry (watch our pantry tour here).

We use a menu and grocery planning sheet, designed by us, to keep our thoughts for the week organized.  It is also nice to be able to fill in leftovers or nights out, happy hours, guests, etc.  It kind of works as a calendar, grocery list, and meal-planning tool – whoa! Who doesn’t love an all-in-one!  When a few nights a week are set aside for recipe development and testing, we have to schedule some kitchen downtime to get caught up on dishes and take a breather!

Menu and Grocery Planning – VegInspired Style

We have revised this several times and find a brainstorming section is an excellent tool because if we don’t make something this week, we can add it to the planner for next week.  I am going to lead you through the sections and how we use them – seems pretty self-explanatory, but accountability is essential, and an explanation always makes usability easier.
