Seitan Gyros

Gyros were never my favorite.  I couldn’t stomach the fact that they are traditionally made with lamb.  🙁  So when the VegInspired Chef suggested Seitan Gyros, I didn’t have an excuse.  Lucky for me they were delicious and super easy.  This is probably one of our best and easiest recipes; you don’t even need a rotisserie, the marinade and browning flavors the seitan perfectly.  The seitan itself is delicious!  Please take some photos and share them with us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and let us know what you think of these easy, vegan Seitan Gyros.

Seitan Gyros

  • 2 packages Upton’s traditional seitan, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 C red wine vinegar
  • pitas
  • 1 medium sized cucumber, seeded and shredded
  • 1/4 C vegan yogurt, or as needed depending on amount of cucumber (we used So Delicious Coconut Yogurt)
  • 1 T tahini
  • fresh squeezed lemon, to taste
  • dill, to taste
  • 1 garlic, minced
  • lettuce, shredded
  • tomato, sliced
  • onion, diced
  1. For Marinade: Mix garlic, oregano, and red wine vinegar with seitan and marinade briefly
  2. For Tzatziki: Mix cucumber, yogurt, tahini, lemon, dill, minced garlic into a spoonable sauce
  3. Brown seitan in preheated skillet
  4. Pile high in warmed pita with lettuce, tomato, onion, and tzatziki

Yum!  Now snap a pic and then devour.
